Staff positions

The holder of a staff position processes certain problems on behalf of line managers (line positions), develops suggestions, and advises his employer. In its capacity as a consultancy and support position, the staff position supports the manager and eases his workload. The holder himself has no authority to issue instructions, i.e. he cannot pass on the task.
